Today I sent off, to the student loan company, a check for $74.33. It doesn't sound like much, but it's squeezed out of our tight budget. It's made out of the name brand foods that we didn't buy and the restaurants we didn't enjoy. It's made out of hand-me-down clothes and thrift store shoes. It's made out of driving the same paid-for car every day for years. And it will go directly to principal and is hopefully the first of the many extra payments that will eventually pay off these loans.
