Scalloped Potatoes and Ham; Kid Snacks

Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

This is my MIL's recipe. I thought "scalloped" meant "cheese," but what do I know?

Potatoes (free, MIL had bought too many)
Milk (.15)
Ham (1.25)
Salt & Pepper

Cut up potatoes. Place in baking dish with ham and salt and pepper. Add milk to cover. Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

We served it with pineapple. (1.00)

Total: $2.40

The kids loved this one. Of course.

SuperDad brought home $100 in lawn-mowing money, much needed funds to get us through the end of the pay period. We've mostly used it so far to stock up on snacks, as the kids never seem to stop snacking.

Their favorite snacks:

  • Fruit, fruit, more fruit, every kind of fruit
  • Fruit snacks (we only buy the Gerber kind, since they don't have dyes, but they're still mostly corn syrup, eww)
  • Midel's Gluten Free Animal Crackers (and occasionally cookies)
  • Gerber Wagon Wheels (these are actually gluten free)
  • Cheese
  • Yogurt

I occasionally try to get them to eat raw carrots, etc., as snacks, but unless they can steal them off my plate, they aren't really interested. However, they usually do great eating veggies when I serve them with meals.
