I do it every year. Springtime arrives, and I pull out my old VHS, taped-off-of-PBS copy of the Pioneer Quest series. If you saw this series, you know what I mean. This is the best of reality TV, two couples who spent one entire year in the Canadian wilderness, living like actual pioneers. Digging a well, and building log cabins, planting and harvesting and baking bread and quilting.
One big part of me longs for this life, and watching always inspires me to work harder on simplifying my life and home.
Of course, one big part of me just loves watching TV. Which says a lot. ;)
By the way, after 7(?) years, my tapes are starting to show their age. But the DVDs are $160!!! Yikes!

I'm so jealous. I taped Frontier House but I've never seen Pioneer Quest and I'd love to watch it.
Our library doesn't have it and I don't know how much it would cost to
interlibrary loan it. As tempting as it is I will not spend 160 on VHS tapes.
I loved Frontier House, but Pioneer Quest is EVEN better!
ILL *should* be free, but not sure if your library would be able to find it - I've had experiences (like trying to get Dave Ramsey products) where other libraries just wouldn't lend them out.
You are so lucky to have those!! i had hoped our library would stock them, as they have Frontier House and Colonial House, but no...We taped Frontier House but should have taped this one too. It really is fabulous.
I too saw Frontier House and the Alaska Experiment on the Discovery Channel is interesting too but I've never seen Pioneer quest and neither our library or Netflix has it.. oh well.

Oh, I want to see the Alaska Experiment, that sounds right up my alley. Maybe that one will come out on DVD.
