And Sometimes We Have McDonald's

I had planned to make macaroni and cheese for dinner last night, but we were out of gluten free noodles and out of time. So I hit McDonald's. We do our best to order off the dollar menu (or less), drink milk at home, *maybe* add in leftover fruits and veggies. We get the kids one plain double cheeseburger with no bun and a small french fry to share. That's under $2 to feed both kids, and they love it - even if they don't get a toy.

Not all gluten intolerant people have great luck with McDonald's, but it's been fine for us.

It's being unprepared and short on time that leads us astray from our menu plan. At $7.44, this meal was by far more expensive than just about anything I make at home, even if it was still pretty cheap for eating out.

Just thought I would let you know that McDonalds has both Dairy and Wheat in their fries. They also share fryers with other breaded foods which contain wheat. BurgerKing has Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free fries and have fryers only for their fries.

Sorry - this is an old post. The wheat in McD;s fries is new. We now eat apple dippers or yogurt parfaits.

At all of our local McD's the fries are deep fried separate (as well as the hashbrowns). But at Burger Kings the fries are deep fried in the same fryer as the onion rings. Which are breaded.Not only that but they pour them all into the same bin because my husband has ordered fries and he gets an occasional onion ring in there. I try to stick to their salads or bunless burgers. Wendy's has a much bigger selection of GF food and that is our occassional splurge if we are going to eat out.
